Let’s face it. None of us goes around town in a dressy gown or tuxedo. I’m more of a jeans girl, myself. But there’s something about a totally glam wardrobe that can make your portrait session just that much more special.
But the question is: Where can you find the right outfit?
Some of my client do have dressy outfits that are in their closet. It’s time to dust them off and pull them out of that closet. But most of us rarely dress up unless it’s for a special occasion. This is one of those occasions. But if you don’t have the most glamorous wardrobe tucked away, there are lots of other options:
ASK ME
As of the time I am writing this, I have started building a studio wardrobe that you are welcome to borrow from. This will be an ever-growing collection of garments and accessories that I think will look fantastic in portraits!
BORROW WARDROBE FOR YOUR PORTRAITS
Check with your friends or family. You might be surprised what’s in their closets. Maybe there’s a favorite dress from your grandmother that is timeless with a vintage flair. Accessorize it with a priceless keepsake of jewelry.
Vintage, Thrift, or Consignment Shops
You’ll be amazed at what I’ve found at some of my favorite consignment shops in Boise. Serendipity Boutique on W. State is a favorite. Not only do they have an amazing selection, but it’ll save money and help show support for a local independent shop.
Rent
I’ve worked with a Boise dressmaker to rent some of her amazing gowns and dresses. During our consultation, I can show you some of her pieces that are among my favorites!
Tips
Once you settle on pieces to bring to your session, don’t forget about accessories! Consider what jewelry you want to wear and try it out to make sure it all works together. While jewelry is an obvious addition, don’t forget about things like decorative hair embellishments, hosiery, hats, scarves and wraps, and even coats or capes. If you inherited Grandma’s fur coat, this could be a fantastic opportunity to show it off.
