Firstly, you should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable! If you’re not happy with the clothing you’ve brought, it will show in the photos. You should love it, it should fit well and it should project the type of image you’d like to see of yourself in the images.
There are all sorts of options of what you can wear for your portrait session. A long flowing gown. That little black dress. Even comfortable jeans and a nice Oxford shirt provides a girl-next-door-look.
One of the very first steps we’ll take when you are considering a portrait session at my Boise studio is have a Zoom or regular phone call to talk about the types of images you’d like to have created and what kind of wardrobe you plan to bring. The studio is constantly expanding its own collection of glittery gowns too that are available to wear.
Beaded or flowing gowns are ideal for that heirloom portrait look. It provides a nice vintage vibe and it’s elegant.
The classic little black dress works well as a crossover between heirloom portraits and contemporary portraits.
And the simple, understated jeans and plain top are great for a contemporary photoshoot.
If you’re unsure, let’s chat! I’ll walk you through all the details of a typical portrait session and we can collaborate on how to make you look and feel fabulous.
